Attempting to get FMI working on my Garmin 7200. I found the correct cable - Mini-USB on GPS end, bare pigtail on the Tracker end. Does anyone know which leads go to which DB-9 pins?

Thnx

As long as you know what pin is what on that cable you have so you can match ot to the 9 pin serial.
The attached picture is what those wires should connect to on the tracker
Hopefully this helps, also I assume you have the power docking cradle for the 7200 as well. I have  that and I just use the pre made cable with serial and mini usb that is available.
Once you have thr cable made up and everything connected amd the tracker settings set correctly you should be good to go and it will start up on power up on the fleet mode

It says on the Argent Data page for that cable - if you are using the one I think you are

Yellow is data out, white is data in, and black is ground. For Tracker2 and Tracker3 models excluding the T2-135 and T3-135, use yellow - pin 2, white - pin 3, black - pin 5 on a female DB9 connector. For the T2-135, T3-135 or cellular modems with DCE pinout, use white - pin 2, yellow - pin 3, black - pin 5 on a male DB9.

this the cable I am talking about https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=90&osCsid=b3ArJTZWIOJjjAxUInUxa1 https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=90&osCsid=b3ArJTZWIOJjjAxUInUxa1

On my cable I carfully cut into the cable jacket on either side of the molded bump in the cable to find the Red wire and jumped that across with a switch. That will provide power to Garmin Nuvi 350 - not sure about other models. So then I only need to run one plug into the side of the Nuvi 350 and no cradle needed. But I need to momentarily interrupt power to the Nuvi ( using the small momentary switch across the bump ) and that will make my Nuvi sync up in FMI mode. The red wire I connected to the pin on my OT2M that supplies 5v power- forget which one.

The cable should have a Garmin part number, probably FMI 15 or FMI 45.
You could use our bare 5-wire USB pigtail but you'd need to provide for
level shifting, add an ID resistor, and probably add a larger 5v power
supply.

Assuming you're using the Garmin cable, the pinouts should be printed on
the bag's label. Should be yellow to pin 2, white to pin 3, and brown
or black to pin 5, I think.

I must say this is a very responsive and helpful group! Thanks for the replys et al. As soon as all the goodies show up the solder smoke will ascend. I have both a 7200 and 350 to tinker with. Very happy with Argent products. I have recommended that our ARES group and County EOC outfit all of of portable units with Trackers.
